Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)

Seize the Day. Life is now.
Remember the movie “Dead Poets Society”, in which Robin Williams teaches Literature? There’s a scene where he shows the boys some photos of the past sports teams and reminds them that, even though they seem to be modern photos, they’re a century old and all the players in them, are already dead.

Seize the day and savor the moment. CARPE DIEM.
Try to achieve now, today, something that will last for the rest of your life.
Where ever life takes me, I’ll never forget when I received the Gold Medal from the president of Italy, the title in the news paper and the 5 goals I scored when, with my team, I won the National Title.

Keep the memories alive but don’t make the mistake of living in the past or, worse yet, in the future. Past and future are part of our lives, but what really counts is NOW.

We could make the mistake of throwing away a good friendship, but if we’re lucky enough we can make new good friends. We could lose money but can try to make more. But when we waste our time, even acting lazy during practice or games, that time is lost forever. It will never come back. So, enjoy your life now and make every minute count as if it were your last. In sports, in your study, in everything that’s worth living and doing.
Carpe Diem.
