Blades versus round cleats from Tammy
I think parents need to know the difference between blades and round cleats.
We bought blades for our daughter (because the predator looks cool and everyone at the world cup was using them), which led to achilles and knee problems right away. We did not realize what the problem was, but happened to change shoes and her knee and ankle were fine again. This happened to another friend with her daughter too. We suggested a shoe change for her, and her problems disappeared.
Blades are unnecessary for kids unless they are playing in mud consistently. Round rubber cleats are best for the hard surfaces we tend to practice and play on in SF.
I think most parents don't know the difference in cleats, or that there are more than one kind of cleat.
