Less TV and more soccer. The only risk is getting smarter!
The more kids watch TV, the worse they do at school.
The philosopher Karl Popper said this years ago but today it's scientifically confirmed by a study conducted by pediatrics of Chicago, published in "Archives of Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine".
In particular the study shows that kids in 3d grade who have a TVs in their room, have grades inferior to those who don't. A tendency that doesn't happen if they have a computer with Internet access in their room. For this reason, the pediatric academy suggests to parents limiting TV to not more than 2 hours a day. (In my opinion it's still too much)
Two other studies published by the same specialized medical magazine, show that kids who watch TV regularly before 3 years old, have lower grades, are less likely to finish high school and enroll in college.
Researchers at Washington University studied 1,800 kids over a period of 10 years and arrived to the conclusion that kids between 3 and 5 years old, who watch a lot of TV, develop an inferior level of comprehension. In particular it inhibits comprehension during reading and math, but facilitates short term memory.
The same conclusions have been found by the University of Otago, New Zeland. Kids and teenagers who watch a lot of TV, have an inferior cultural level independent of social-economic environment or problems during infancy.
SO TURN OFF THE TV AND ................................... GET OUT!
