Playing soccer is pure joy!
Playing soccer is fun, but don't make the mistake of playing ONLY for fun. Fun is only a consequence. If you play only for fun, when you lose the ball it's O.K. and you will not try to win it back. When you miss a pass, it's O.K. When you miss an easy goal, it's O.K. When you lose 12 to 0, it's O.K.
This is the negation of soccer. Not only. When you find something more fun, you won't play soccer anymore.
Having fun means loving your team's jersey. It means helping your teammates in achieving a good result altogether (and that doesn't mean winning at any cost!) It means practicing to become a better soccer player. It means learning to kick properly so you won't miss a clear opportunity to score.
Please don't misunderstand me, but to the teams I coach, no matter what age, I always say, "Go there and have fun, but remember, losing is not fun!" That's only fun if you don't care. We can lose acceptably after having given our best. That way, loosing doesn't have anything to do with having fun or not. That way, playing soccer is pure joy!
